This is a very popular Alloy handled WW2 kukri of the 8th Gurkha Rifles, the first known date of the 8th Gurkhas wearing these kukris is in 1930 and they were used through to and including WW2 by both Officers and Rifleman. The kukri smiths have done extremely well in making the handles in the correct fashion and materials.

The Kukri has a 33cm long hollow forged/ground blade with 5cm belly depth, and it has a rough weight guideline of approx 550-625 grams, it is housed in a military scabbard with military frogs, and includes Tinder Pouch (which no longer comes with the insert) and 8.5cm Chakmak and Karda utility knives.

Part of the Order of the Day (20/12/1944) by Col. Walter Walker, as the 4/8th were to spearhead the advance from the book 'The Fighting General';

“I know we shall kill and utterly destroy the Japanese whenever and wherever we meet him. As Commandant of this Battalion I pin my faith in you. You have character; you have grit and guts; you have supreme courage; you have high morale; you have discipline; you have pride in your race; and now that you have confidence as a result of our recent training you are all going to be an everlasting credit to the cause which roused the manhood of Nepal and the land which gave you birth.” Walker was delighted that his guest could watch his Gurkhas ‘going in like terriers’ with drawn kukri

Walker had his Japanese body counts queried, when the Officer from Headquarters came to visit him, he arranged for Japanese heads to be put on either side of his Pagoda, which solved the problem of the body count.

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.

For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur.

You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.

Great reproduction!

Today I received the WW2 4/8th Gurkha kukri with aluminium handle. What a beauty! I'm very impressed with it, ad with the chakmak, karda and adjustable sheath. It's slightly sleeker and lighter than the WW1 6t Gurkha kukri which I also have. It has a deep hollow grind and a keen edge. Ready for use:-).Hans (3 Dec 2019, 14:01)

A very nice blade with simple lines, yet a look far advanced of the 1930s whence the original came. A different feel for the handle, and definately not a handle for cold weather! It is however, very comfortable without the 'organic' feel. The worksmanship is amazing in all details. The hollow ground blade, the beautifully polished handle all fit snugly into the scabbard, which, in itself, is a work of art! Just a shame the tinder pouch no longer come with the blades. This beautiful piece hasn't let me down and makes me look forward to my next Tora blade even more! The Kamis Simon uses are true artisans!Stephen O'Dell (18 Jun 2019, 19:23)
