The Tora Goorkhali is based on the old fighting style of kukri used by the Goorkhas of Nepal. This style of kukri was potentially an early issue kukri of the Gurkhas, reference pictures of the 66th Goorkhas in the Indian Mutiny. These early Goorkhali-styled kukris were primarily a backup weapon to the tulwar and shield rather than a utility blade, but could easily be used in a light to medium capacity.
The Tora Goorkhali generally has a 34cm long blade with a belly of 5.5cm and a rough weight guideline of 440-515 grams. It has a traditional partial tang wooden handle (that the Goorkhas used in single or double-handed fashion) and comes with a traditional style scabbard and the Chakmak & Karda utility knives (no frogs).
Please note that the chakmak and karda are now the same style as the military kukri, and the tinder pouch no longer comes with the insert.

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.
For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.
We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.
Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.
Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.
