Product Information

Another new model - replicated from an original kukri belonging to a close friend of ours we found whilst in Nepal during February 2017. ¬

The Tamang (Ta=horse, Mang=trader in Tibetan) people typically live in the high hills of the Kathmandu Valley and originate from Tibet. ¬ They are often seen wearing a kukri stuck in the potuka (waist sash). ¬ This Tamang kukri is a typical villager kukri for general utility work.

The Tora Tamang kukri has a partial tang wooden handle, blade length of approximately 35cm, belly depth of 4.5cm and a weight guideline of 525-600g. ¬ It comes with traditional Nepalese scabbard with Tinder Pouch, a 8cm bladed Kard and traditional style chakmak (not currently pictured).

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models. ¬ For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please use this link¬

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.
