Product Information

The original Pattern of the British Service Issue kukri was possibly introduced in the 1950's. This type of kukri saw active service in the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Borneo Confrontation (1962-1966), and the Falklands war in 1982.

Tora's 2019 BSI (based on the 70's issue) generally has a 30-31cm long Hollow Forged blade with a belly of 5.5cm and a rough weight guideline of between 450-525 grams. It has a stick tang horn handle and comes with military scabbard and frogs and Chakmak & Karda utility knives with 8.5cm blades.

*The current British Service Issue, introduced in the 1990's, is a very poor variant of the 1970's model. It usually has a standard stock blade with a length of 26.5cm, and a weight around 575 grams!!! No comparison to the 1970's version in Tora's honest opinion.

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.

For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.

Great workmanship!

I have many different Kukris, and this take a special place in my collection. Sharp, light and smooth action. Love the lines and practicality. Tora does a great job. (Oct 11 2021, 17:50 PM)

Polished and ready!

Excellent communications with Simon and Leanne! Arrived while I was out of town yesterday. Opened and felt excited like a child on Christmas. Beautiful blade! Very satisfied. I have many but this is my first TORA. Looking forward to my next delivery whenever it gets here. (Sep 23 2021, 20:36 PM)

Stunning blade

My brown box covered in tape finally arrived. Inside was this wonderfully packaged beautiful specimen of a blade. 100% satisfied. If you've been thinking about one, go ahead you won't regret it. And that knot your wife puts on your head Will go away eventually. (Aug 29 2021, 04:43 AM)

Top quality blade

I’ve bought kukri from various manufacturers over the years and none of them can compare in quality and craftsmanship to a Tora made kukri. This kukri has beautiful lines,is a sharp and fast handling knife, exactly what is required in a fighting blade.Once again a credit to the kami for turning out another exceptional kukri as this kind of work is definitely worth both the price and the wait.
