The original Pattern of the British Service Issue kukri was possibly introduced in the 1950's. This type of kukri saw active service in the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Borneo Confrontation (1962-1966), and the Falklands war in 1982.
Tora's 2019 BSI (based on the 70's issue) generally has a 30-31cm long Hollow Forged blade with a belly of 5.5cm and a rough weight guideline of between 450-525 grams. It has a stick tang horn handle and comes with military scabbard and frogs and Chakmak & Karda utility knives with 8.5cm blades.

*The current British Service Issue, introduced in the 1990's, is a very poor variant of the 1970's model. It usually has a standard stock blade with a length of 26.5cm, and a weight around 575 grams!!! No comparison to the 1970's version in Tora's honest opinion.
Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.
