Please note - you are placing a pre-order for this kukri.

The original Pattern of the British Service Issue kukri was possibly introduced in the 1950's. This type of kukri saw active service in the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Borneo Confrontation (1962-1966), and the Falklands war in 1982.

Tora's BSI (based on the 70's issue) generally has a 29cm long blade with a belly of 5.5cm and a rough weight guideline of between 440-515 grams. It has a stick tang horn handle and comes with military scabbard and frogs and Chakmak & Karda utility knives with 8cm blades.

*The current British Service Issue, introduced in the 1990's, is a very poor variant of the 1970's model. It usually has a standard stock blade with a length of 26.5cm, and a weight around 575 grams!!! No comparison to the 1970's version in Tora's honest opinion.

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specification as per the original models.

For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please use this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vplOsEUgwIg

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight wood/horn colour etc may well occur. You must be 18yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal

The Tora BSI

12345
I have had other British Service Issues from other Kukri manufactures and this Tora BSI is a better blade because of it's balance, excellent heat treat, authentic weight, good looks, and performance. I read about the BSI: "Blade Lengths of 11 inches are the norm on the 60s, 70s & 80s pieces, weights are usually in region of 14oz. to 17oz." In keeping with the above observations the Tora BSI 1960's version is right on tract and I am happy to have bought one. (Jun 25 2013, 19:05 PM)
