The Tora Hanshee Goorkhali is based on the type of kukri which was used by the Goorkhas of the Goorkhali Government in the Anglo-Nepali War (1814-1816) and the 8th Dragoons when they dismounted using the famed 1796 Light Calvalry Sabre suffered at the hands of the Goorkhas with their Goorkhali Kukri and Shield.
The Hanshee Goorkhali Kukri was used by the Royal Nepal Army in the Indian Mutiny and potentially by the 66th Goorkhas in the Indian Mutiny aswell.
Undoubtedly one of the best handling kukri types and ideal for Martial Arts use.
The Hanshee Goorkhali generally has a 34cm long blade and a rough weight guideline of 440-515 grams. It has a traditional partial tang wooden handle (that the Goorkhas used in single or double-handed fashion) and comes with a traditional style scabbard and the Chakmak & Karda utility knives (no frogs).

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.
For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.
We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.
Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.
Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.
