This kukri came about after discussions between myself, the Gurkha Procurement Officer for Kukri and Major Jonathan Titley.  During our discussions, the term Jungle Kukri was used by Major Titley and so the name has stuck!  This kukri is in the same vain as the Bush Kukri but offers a different blade length and shape.

It has a 37.5 cm blade length, stick tang wooden handle with a diamond keeper. Weight range is 550-625g. The kukri comes with military scabbard and larger 12 cm karda utility knife the same type as the Forces Kukri.  (No Chakmak supplied with this model).

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.

For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.

Jungle Kukri from Batch 30

I was greatly saddened to learn of the recent passing of Major Jonathan Titley. Mention of his input to the design of this kukri piqued my interest in this model as it signalled something special. I would suggest changing the name to Titley kukri in his honour but you say the name "Jungle" was his idea. My Jungle Kukri is 37.5 cm length and weighs 567 g. Neither is far from the norm, but this geometry is magic. The dui chira (double fuller) ensures a relatively light blade with the centre of gravity closer to the handle than most, making it very lively for its length. It feels lighter and handles better than many that are quite a bit shorter One minor issue is with the handle: two places on either side of the centre ring where the saw had bitten a bit too deep and had been left like that. The standard of finish is particularly noticeable when compared to my 4/10th officers kukri also from Tora but then the Jungle seems to be essentially sold as a utilitarian tool rather than having to pass muster on the parade ground. The karda offered with this Jungle kukri is excellent and has quickly become a practical go-to woodworking knife. All too often karda and chakmaks offered on other websites for export from Nepal look like cheap afterthoughts. Not so here. I can say the same for the karda and chakmak with my 4/10th kukri. I am making a new dap (scabbard) for my left handed use in the bush for this kukri. Not unsurprisingly, both the kukri and the karda have been great for carving the wood for this new dap. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the military scabbard provided. The workmanship is excellent but I would prefer to keep it, as it were, for the parade ground rather than the knocks and mud and muck of the field.Anonymous (Feb 21 2023, 18:51 PM)
