Product Information
The original Pattern of the British Service Issue kukri was possibly introduced in the 1960s. This type of kukri saw active service in the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Borneo Confrontation (1962-1966), and the Falklands war in 1982.

Tora's 2023 BSI is based on a 75 issue BSI and will come with a 29cm long Hollow Forged blade and a rough weight guideline of between 450-525 grams. It has a stick tang horn handle and comes with military scabbard, frog and Chakmak & Karda utility knives.

Click here for video description and here for the refinements made as of August 23.

*The current British Service Issue, introduced in the 1990's, is a very poor variant of a 1970's model BSI. It usually has a standard stock blade with a length of 26.5cm, and a weight around 575 grams!!! No comparison to the 1975 version in Tora's honest opinion.

Tora kukri are traditional handmade kukri, made in Nepal, and not the usual export and tourist kukri found on many other websites. Tora strives to make kukri to the traditional specifications as per the original models.

For an easy way to sharpen your kukri please watch this video.

We strongly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate oil and wood treatment prior to use.

Please note that because all of our kukri are hand-made, variances in size, weight, wood colour, chakmak & karda style etc may well occur. You must be 18 yrs and over to purchase any knife or sword.

Please note that the kukri are now sent directly from Nepal.

I own a few kukuri’s from different manufacturers and I must say that this one is far superior in every way. The fit and finish are top notch. The lighter weight and slightly thinner blade make the functionality and maneuverability much better than any other that I’ve used. It actually chops through thick branches faster than the heavier, thicker ones by biting much deeper into the wood on every swing. The pricing makes Tora the best value around by far. I’m extremely pleased! ~Jerry Muns~ Hartland, Michigan.Jerry Muns (6 Jun 2022, 17:46)

Great workmanship!

I have many different Kukris, and this take a special place in my collection. Sharp, light and smooth action. Love the lines and practicality. Tora does a great job.Peter Fischer (11 Oct 2021, 17:50)

Polished and ready!

Excellent communications with Simon and Leanne! Arrived while I was out of town yesterday. Opened and felt excited like a child on Christmas. Beautiful blade! Very satisfied. I have many but this is my first TORA. Looking forward to my next delivery whenever it gets here.Anonymous (23 Sep 2021, 20:36)

Stunning blade

My brown box covered in tape finally arrived. Inside was this wonderfully packaged beautiful specimen of a blade. 100% satisfied. If you've been thinking about one, go ahead you won't regret it. And that knot your wife puts on your head Will go away eventually. Anthony Tidwell (29 Aug 2021, 04:43)

Top quality blade

I’ve bought kukri from various manufacturers over the years and none of them can compare in quality and craftsmanship to a Tora made kukri. This kukri has beautiful lines,is a sharp and fast handling knife, exactly what is required in a fighting blade.Once again a credit to the kami for turning out another exceptional kukri as this kind of work is definitely worth both the price and the wait.Stephen Herbert (12 Dec 2020, 03:44)
